The Paladin

The Paladin is a righteous defensive fighter with divine powers.

Overview

The Paladin, the holy warrior, the epitome of the Knight in shining armor, and the bane of the evil Undead, is a powerful protective fighter, empowered by the Gods to cleanse the earth of the Undead.

With their divine gifted power, the Paladin is able to perform the role of a tank while supplementing this ability with an assortment of spells to heal themselves, rescue their group members, and casts buffs upon the groups. Along with this, the Paladin boats an assortment of melee attacks that can damage their foes--and greatly damage the Undead. While the various protective fighters in Vanguard are all fairly equal at tanking, the Paladin is unquestionably the best when it comes to the Undead as they have numerous abilities targeted directly at their greatest foes. While not a healing class, the Paladin does have a few healing spells that they can use on their group mates (using them on themselves reduce their Virtue Points) and they are the only class that can bring allies back from the dead during combat (although only at high levels). Paladins also boast a number of Auras (similar to stances) that can be used to buff themselves or debuff their enemies.

The Paladin is a powerful protective fighter with a wide array of abilities that can help a group--and smite the cursed Undead.

Abilities

Level 1

Holy Strike I: Deals normal damage plus 5. An additional 10 damage is dealt to undead.

Laying on of Hands I: Delivers a mighty heal to an ally. This ability uses virtue points when cast upon any Paladin.


Level 2

Smite I: Deals minor Damage to your target but instills them with great hatred for you.


Level 4

Hammer of Judgment I: Slashes your target for 150% damage plus 8. Deals Additional damage when used while an ally is flanking your target

Healing Touch I: This spell allows you to heal your target or yourself for a moderate amount.


Level 6

Hammer of Athuloria I: Crushes your target for 200% damage. Deals Additional damage when used while an ally is flanking your target.

Boon of Athuloria I: Allows you the chance to deal additional damage with every melee attack. You cannot have more than one Boon affecting your weapons.

Blessing of Vothdar: Blesses your target with increased strength. Only one blessing can be active on a target.

Devout Foeman I: Raises your chance to block incoming attacks by 80% for 60 seconds or until you block. Decreases your opponent's hatred of you.


Level 8

Boon of Fieros I: Allows you the chance to deal additional damage to undead targets. You cannot have more than one Boon affecting your weapons.

Courage I: This spell increases your maximum hit points and armor class.

Holy Strike II: Deals normal damage plus 15. An additional 20 damage is dealt to undead.

Upbraid: Instills your opponent with great anger towards you.

Champions Might I: Deals minor damage to your target, but increases your strength for 40 seconds.


Level 10

Marshalling Cry I: This war cry emboldens you and your allies, greatly increasing for two attacks the damage you can do and your accuracy.

Dictum of Athuloria: Blasts your target with spiritual energy, dealing heavy damage.

Retribution I: Deals 180% of normal damage and forces the attacker of your defensive target to attack you instead. If you use a rescue when you are below 20% health, you gain a virtue point.

Judgment of the Impure: The Punishment mete out to the impure. Your target takes damage over time as they are purified by fire. Only one judgment may be active on a target.

Hammer of Judgment II: Smashes your target for 150% damage plus 20. Deals additional damage when used while an ally is flanking your target.


Level 12

Smite II: Deals minor damage to your target, but instills them with great hatred for you.

Hammer of Athuloria II: Crushes your target for 205% damage. Deals additional damage when used while an ally is flanking your target.


Level 14

Vothdar's Mighty Strike I: Deals normal damage to your target, and increases the strength of your group for 40 seconds.

Judgment of the Envious: This punishment mete out to the envious. Your target is blinded for 30 seconds, reducing its accuracy by 75%. The blindness wears off if the target is hit. Only one judgment may be active on a target.

Sunburst: Inflicts heavy damage on undead opponents and also stuns them for 20 seconds or 2 hits.

Guardian's Assault I: Deals 90% damage and greatly increases your opponent's hatred of you. Increases the effects of an armor chink.

Healing Touch II: This spell allows you to heal your target or yourself for a moderate amount.

Entwine I: Rescues your defensive target from an incoming attack, causing the offender to target you for 3 to 6 seconds and heals your ally. If you use a rescue when you are below 20% health, you gain a virtue point.


Level 15

Laying on of Hands II: Delivers a mighty heal to an ally. This ability uses virtue points when cast upon any Paladin.


Level 16

Champion's Might II: Deals minor damage to your target, but increases your strength for 40 seconds.

Blessing of Gloriann's Protection: Blesses your target with increased armor class and fire, cold and spiritual resistance. Only one blessing can be active on a target.


Level 18

Courage II: This spell increases your maximum hit points and armor class.

Holy Strike III: Deals Normal damage plus 28. an additional 30 damage is dealt to undead.

Cry of Solace I: This war cry provides a small amount of health.

Judgment of the Proud: The punishment mete out to the proud. Reduces your opponent's strength, which decreases their melee damage. Only one judgment may be active on a target.

Sentinel's Blessing I: Strikes your target for minimal damage but surrounds you with a shield that increases your armor class for 40 seconds.


Level 20

Hammer of Judgment III: Smashes your target for 150% damage plus 40. Deals additional damage when used while an ally is flanking your target.

Paragon of Justice: Athuloria grants you a portion of her power, making you a mighty paragon of justice. You gain increased strength, dexterity, constitution and vitality as well as increased accuracy and damage.

Marshalling Cry II: This war cry emboldens you and your allies, greatly increasing your accuracy and ability to do damage for two attacks.

Retribution II: Deals 185% of normal damage and forces the attacker of your defensive target to attack you instead. If you use a rescue when you are below 20% health, you gain a virtue point.

Rebuke I: Counterattack, dealing 100% of normal damage to your opponent while lowering damage of the next 3 incoming attacks by 25%. Can only be used after a block.

Hammer of Athuloria III: Crushes your target for 210% damage. Deals additional damage when used while an ally is flanking your target.


Level 22

Vothdar's Mighty Strike II: Deals normal damage to your target, and increases the strength of your group for 40 seconds.

Judgment of the Bloodthirsty: The punishment mete out to the violent. Causes your opponent to take damage every time they attack. Only one judgment may be active on a target.

Blessing of Gloriann's Peace: Causes your target's attacks to generate less hatred. Only one blessing can be active on a target.

Smite III: Deals minor damage to your target, but instills them with great hatred for you.


Level 26

Boon of Athuloria II: Allows you the chance to deal additional damage with every melee attack. You cannot have more than one Boon affecting your weapons.

Shield of Gloriann: Surrounds you and your allies with a protective shield, making you immune to damage for 4 seconds.

Sentinel's Blessing II: Strikes your target for minimal damage but surrounds you with a shield that increases your armor class for 40 seconds.

Devout Foeman II: Raises your chance to block incoming attacks by 90% for 60 seconds or until you block. Decreases your opponent's hatred of you

Guardian's Assault II: Deals 90% damage and greatly increases your opponent's hatred of you. Increases the effects of an armor chink.


Level 28

Hammer of Athuloria IV: Crushes your target for 215% damage. Deals additional damage when used while an ally is flanking your target.

Entwine II: Rescues your defensive target from an incoming attack causing the offender to target you for 3 to 6 seconds and heals your ally. If you use a rescue when you are below 20% health, you gain a virtue point.

Blood Oath I: Your swear a blood oath to destroy your enemy. granting you increased prowess in battle until you switch targets.

Holy strike IV: Deals normal damage plus 40. An additional 40 damage is dealt to undead.

Strike of Gloriann I: Strikes your target for normal damage but surrounds you and your group with a shield that increases your armor class 40 seconds.

Vanquish: Vanquish a wounded opponent dealing 250% damage. Target must be below 10% health. Undead targets take additional 200 damage.


Level 30

Hammer of Judgment IV: Smashes your target for 150% damage plus 64. Deals additional damage when used while an ally if flanking your target.

Retribution III: Deals 190% of normal damage and forces the attacker of your defensive target to attack you instead. If you use a rescue when you are below 20% health, you gains a virtue point.

Rebuke II: Counter attack dealing 100% of normal damage toy our opponent while lowering the damage of the next 3 incoming attacks by 30%. Can only be used after a block.

Judgment of the Wrathful: The punishment mete out to the wrathful. Your target will not assist nearby allies, nor will it take aggressive action against anyone. This meekness breaks if the target is attacked. Only one judgment may be active on a target.

Level 32

Champion's Might IV: Deals 78 to 86 damage to your target, but increases your strength for 40 seconds.

Stroke of Conviction II: Deals 150% damage and adds 162 to 174 hate over 30 seconds.

Courage III: This spell increases your maximum hit points and armor class

Shining Beacon: Divine light floods the area around you filling nearby opponents with hatred and forcing them to target you. Undead in the area also take heavy damage.


Level 34

Blade of Vol Anari III: Cleaves through undead opponents, dealing 300% weapon damage and 43 to 49 damage over 20 seconds.

Sentinel's Blessing III: Strikes your target for your target for 82 to 90 damage but surrounds you with a shield that increases your armor class by 160 for 40 seconds.

Barrier of Faith: This ability extends your shielding capabilities to your friendly target granting complete invulnerability for five seconds.

Cry of Illumination I: This war cry heals endurance and mana to small extent for yourself and your group mates.

Sunburst III: Scorches all undead opponents within 15m for 425 to 451 damage and blinds them, reducing accuracy and movement by 70% for 20 seconds or 1 hit.


Level 36

Hammer of Athuloria V: Crushes your opponent dealing 250% weapon damage plus 65 to 73. Deals an additional 177 to 191 damage when used while an ally is flanking your target.

Strike of Gloriann II: Strikes your target for normal damage but surrounds you and your group with a shield that increases your armor class by 166 for 50 seconds.

Boon of Vol Anari III: Allows you the chance to deal additional damage to undead targets. You cannot have more than one Boon affecting your weapons.

Cry of Solace II: This war cry heals a small amount of health.

Smite IV: Deals 78 to 88 damage and instills your opponent with great hatred of you.


Level 38

Vothdar's Mighty Strike IV: Deals normal damage to your target, and increases strength of your group for 40 seconds.

Guardian's Assault III: Deals 75% damage and greatly increases your opponent's hatred of you. Increases the effects of an armor chink.

Holy Strike V: Deals normal damage plus 78. An additional 96 to 104 damage is dealt to undead.

Vanquish II: Vanquish a wounded opponent dealing 250% weapon damage. Target must be below 10% health. Undead targets take an additional 317 to 337 damage.

Contrition II: Forces the attacker of your defensive target to attack you and lowers its damage by 60 for 10 seconds. If you use a rescue when you are below 20% health, you gain a virtue point.

Level 40

Champion's Might V: Deals 99 to 109 damage to your target, but increases your strength for 40 seconds.

Hammer of Judgment V: Smashes your opponent for 24 to 40. Deals an additional 206 to 220 damage when used while an ally is flanking your target.

Wings of the Avenger: Wings of faith slow your descent, preventing you from taking damage from falls.

Retort III: Counterattack, lashing out and surrounding yourself with a barrier that lowers the damage of the next 3 incoming attacks by 25%. Can only be used after a block.

Protector's Fury IV: Deals 300% weapon damage plus 0 and forces the attacker of your defensive target to attack you instead. If you use a rescue when you are below 20% health, you gain a virtue point.

Final Stand: Surrounds you with an impenetrable barrier and increases your damage by 50% for 15 seconds.

Prayer of Life: This spell brings the dead back to life.

Dictum of Athuloria IV: Blasts your target with spiritual energy, causing 305 to 327 damage.


Level 42

Stroke of Conviction III: Deals 150% damage and adds a 216 to 232 hate over 30 seconds.

Sentinel's Blessing IV: Strikes your target for 104 to 114 damage bur surrounds you with a shield that increases your armor class by 200 for 40 seconds.

Entwine III: Rescues your defensive target from an incoming attack, causing the offender to target you for 2 attacks and heals your ally. If you use a rescue when you are below 20%, you gain a virtue point.


Level 44

Hammer of Athuloria VI: Crushes your target dealing 250% weapon damage plus 82 to 90. Deals an additional 223 to 239 damage when used while an ally is flanking your target.

Strike of Gloriann III: Strikes your target for normal damage but surrounds you and your group with a shield that increases your armor class by 210 for 40 seconds.

Courage IV: This spell increases your maximum hit points and armor class.

Cry of Illumination II: This war cry heals a small amount of endurance and mana for yourself and your group mates.

Smite V: Deals 108 to 118 damage and instills your opponent with a great hatred of you.


Level 50
